If you’re reading this, chances are you already know: the options are seriously limited when it comes to finding flattering women’s Penn State clothing, especially if you want to wear your school pride without looking like you are going to bed.

So… how did we get here?

Back in the early 20th century, going to a college football game was practically a formal affair. Women wore long skirts, tailored jackets, even furs to cheer on their teams. By the 1950s, game day fashion meant ladylike elegance with full skirts, pearls, gloves. The 1960s brought preppy polish with varsity sweaters, A-line skirts, and cardigans.

Then came the shift.

In the 1970s and 80s, American fashion started leaning more casual. Comfort was king. Jeans, tees, and sneakers became the go-to for game days, especially in the early-season months. Tailgating took off and suddenly, fans were dressing more for the parking lot than the stadium.

The casual boom was aided by the introduction of mass-produced collegiate apparel. Thanks to expanding licensing deals, we ended up with what we still see today: generic, oversized, often unisex gear. Quick to make, easy to sell but not exactly designed with women in mind.

And let’s be honest. We’ve been stuck with boxy sweatshirts and clingy tank tops for decades. Sure, they work for a Saturday tailgate, but not your Monday meeting or work happy hour. Meanwhile, men have had it made with polos, pullovers, and hats. They wear their school pride to the office, on the golf course, at dinner. It just works.

Enter Abigail Collins.

We’re here to bridge that gap, and not just on game days. The mission of Abigail Collins is to help women feel proud to wear Penn State again. Because I don’t know about you, but when I wear Penn State, I stand a little taller. I’m ready to yell “We Are” at a stranger. There’s a kind of confidence and connection in that moment that no other piece of clothing gives me.

We’re here to bring that feeling back into your everyday life. Into your Tuesday meetings. Your coffee dates. Your travel days. Your alumni events. Your real world.

We know it won’t happen overnight. For decades, women haven’t had access to collegiate wear that fits well, flatters, or feels elevated enough to wear anywhere. But we’re changing that, one piece at a time.

Because this isn’t just about a cute top.

It’s about us and…it’s about time.
